What if we stopped praying for America only in general terms and began praying state by state, region by region, and border by border?
We all know that "religiously" motivated extremist groups our wanting to bring violence and instability into communities and across our nation, and we should not ignore the need to pray strategically for protection, wisdom, and discernment. At the same time, our prayers should distinguish between violent extremism and ordinary people of faith who desire to live peacefully in their communities.
Strategic intercession requires us to ask God for eyes to see what He sees. The story of Elisha in 2 Kings 6 demonstrates this kind of spiritual discernment. When others saw an enemy surrounding the city, Elisha saw that heaven had already positioned greater forces around them.
The Elisha anointing calls us to pray with discernment—to expose what is hidden, dismantle influences that promote violence, deception, division, and oppression, and redirect spiritual and cultural influences toward righteousness, truth, peace, freedom, and revival.
We are not called to operate in fear, hatred, or speculation. We are called to listen to the Holy Spirit, pray according to God's Word, and faithfully stand in the authority Christ has given His Church.
One state at a time. One region at a time. One prayer assignment at a time.
May God open our eyes, sharpen our discernment, expose darkness with His light, dismantle works that oppose His purposes, protect communities from violence, and redirect regions toward Jesus, truth, righteousness, freedom, peace, and revival.
